Why I love boxing

Growing up as a kid I tried various different sports, like almost every kid does. My impulsiveness took me to many different roads, from skating for a week to going to exactly 3 judo classes before being bored and quitting it. But most of my childhood years I spend on a hockey field, playing field hockey. For 8 years I loved this sport and everything that it had to do with it. However, after I moved to London for my internship a few years ago, my perspective changed 180 degrees. I found out something that caught my fascination; boxing. 2,5 years later I fell in love with boxing and even got a little taste of Mixed Martial Arts; which tasted god damn good! In this week’s blog I want to emphasize how I made this transition from a posh team sport to a martial art, why I fell in love with boxing and why I think people are overthinking it.

Curiosity. According to the Dictionary it means: ‘a strong desire to know or learn something.’ Or ‘an unusual or interesting object or fact’. A word we probably all know or have heard of. We often talk about ‘having a curious mind-set’, or ‘improving our curiosity’. But what does curiosity mean to you? What are the moments when you experience this feeling we call curiosity? And what does that feeling do to you? How can we feel so different and funny when we get curious? So many questions I am fascinated by. My curiosity particularly comes up when I am living in a new country. However, after realising I missed this special, exciting feeling, I decided to look for it more often. Curious to find out what I did to create curiosity, how I try to train it and why I think it’s important? Find it out below!

Sitting alongside naked people in an overheated (wooden) room with a stove in the middle doesn’t sound exciting if you put it like that. If you add the fact that you are sweating balls, it will probably even get worse. However, after doing an exchange program in Finland for four months I fell in love with saunas. I went from being totally insecure when being naked to feeling completely freed when being naked in a sauna. Find out what the benefits are of going into a sauna, how I fell in love with the sauna culture and why I think everyone should give it a try!

Most people overthink from time to time, resulting in being indecisive and feeling terrible. Or at least that’s how I feel, if you ask me. But what is overthinking and what does it do with you? How does it affect me and how do I try to get rid of it? Why is it the worst enemy? Find it all out below in this week’s blog about overthinking!

Being lazy is a feeling that we all have experienced in our lives probably. During our holidays, on a Sunday morning or on a day off, we all know how it feels to stay in bed, stay in our pyjamas and be lazy for a day. Being lazy is awesome, since we are always busy. But laziness can have an opposite, down side as well; when laziness becomes the standard and everything starts to feel heavy, costing lots of effort and lacking any joy. I have let laziness become the standard and I am currently experiencing the negative side effects of it. Find out what it is doing to me, why I hate to be lazy and what I am trying to do to get rid of this terrible feeling in this week’s blog.
