![]() What do you believe? Do you believe in God? Allah? The Universe? The Big Bang? Or are you a non-believer? Whatever it is, after going to my very first service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle church this Sunday morning, I taught it was time to write about my experience and why I believe in the power of believing. Find out what I learned from this impressive, holy and unique experience at a church in Brooklyn this morning below, and why I think everyone should believe. Going to a service with a gospel choir is a must thing to do if you are in New York, according to my girlfriend. The idea reminded me of some movies were those services with amazing choirs looked like pure joy and amazement. I really wanted to visit one, since I taught it must be something special. My girlfriend found a church in Brooklyn and we were all set. What better time to do it then on a Sunday morning? So there we went, in the poring rain, making our way to the Brooklyn Tabernacle. After 20 minutes on the bus we arrived and were happy to see that we could wait inside. The service wasn’t going to start for another 40 minutes so I had some time to think while standing in line. I kind of like churches, and always have. Probably because I have been baptised and I did do my Communion. However, I am not a believer my self. I decided to not do the confession of faith, since I don’t really believe in God. I do believe in something bigger, but I will get back to you about that. I just like the peaceful atmosphere and the fact that people are friendly and nice to each other in a church. After the wait was over, we were allowed in and took our seat in the front. The Tabernacle is a beautiful space, reminding me of an old theatre. The decoration was beautiful and in font of us was a huge stage, filled with chairs for the choir. The chairs were comfy and I was ready to experience a true piece of local culture. Impressed, emotional and amazed I was after the first hour was over. The way people were singing, the sound of the whole choir filling the room and the passion everybody was showing was truly special to see. It was humbling to see people share their struggle by praising the lord, by signing together and by being together. They praise someone they believe that exists. The power and energy that believe in God gave to the people in that church, was amazing to experience. To get a better feel of how the choir sung, please click on the video below. And that’s what I think is so special. Even though I don’t believe in God, I find it so special that people can devote their life to a faith. To something that is giving them hope. That is giving them a purpose. That is making them a better person because they follow certain rules. And it is so easy to judge a religion or belief, because of all the wrong doing in the past or stories that have been told, but being in that service made me realise something. For the second hour a priest was preaching certain chapters of the Bible, sharing important truths. Although I didn’t agree with everything that he said, I still believe the fundamentals he shared are improving people’s lives. So what did he share? He talked about how you should live in gratitude. How you should praise your life and everything that you already have, instead of focussing on the things you don’t have. On how the glass isn’t half empty and on how people nowadays tend to focus on the negative. Moreover, he talked about the importance of giving. How important it is to stop living just for yourself and to start giving in order to receive more. But this blog is not meant to make you a Christian or share with you how to believe in God. This blog is meant to share with you why I believe in the power of believing. So let me explain what the ‘Gospel choir service’ made me realize; it made me realize that I already believe in something bigger, I just don’t call it God. For me it’s the Universe. After reading books like Think and Grow Rich, and The Secret I believe that if you think positively, if you are open to new opportunities, if you are grateful and thankful for what you have and if you give with no strings attached, good things will happen to you. I believe that you can force luck in someway, by simply being open to new things. Copyrights: https://quotefancy.com/law-of-attraction-quotes And obviously life is not that simple. But the point I am trying to make is that it doesn’t matter what you believe, as long as it is helping you, benefiting you and making you a better person, why not believe it for the full 100%?! Why not believe in something that might not even be there if it’s giving you strength, hope and a purpose? Why be afraid to share what you believe because people could judge you for it?
Believing might me an intangible thing to do, since it’s not giving you ‘hard’ returns. You don’t earn more money by believing, but you will get more energy, joy and enthusiasm when believing that will make you work harder. To come back to the point I am trying to make; I believe in the power of believing. A proper belief system will set you up to do great things. Believing is the first step. If you believe, you have to take action and if you take action your beliefs will come true. Several things have proven to me that believing works! So what do you believe? Do you believe in your own capacities? Do you believe in a religion? What is it you believe? Please share your beliefs below and start the conversation!
